Kincardine’s Station Beach boardwalk improvements to begin in early December
Construction on the Station Beach boardwalk, along the lakeshore in Kincardine, will begin early next month, marking the start of important upgrades to one of the municipality’s most popular waterfront areas. Work will continue through the winter, as weather allows, with completion expected in the spring of 2026.

That’s the word from community services director Luke Bedard, in a press release issued Wednesday.

The project includes replacing the section of boardwalk that runs from the boat launch to just before the south washroom, along with relocating certain portions of the boardwalk slightly closer to the existing parking area. This will create space for new dune formation designed to help keep more sand on the beach and reduce the amount that travels onto the boardwalk and parking lot.

Stamped concrete will be installed only at the main access points, while the majority of the new boardwalk will remain wood construction as directed by council.

Throughout construction, fenced-off areas will be closed to the public for safety, though the beach and parking areas will remain open. Access routes may shift as work progresses, and residents and visitors are asked to avoid restricted zones until the project is complete.

“This work represents a significant investment in the long-term health and enjoyment of Station Beach,” said Bedard. “By replacing aging sections of the boardwalk, improving accessibility, and creating new dune areas, we’re building a more resilient and welcoming waterfront. We appreciate everyone’s patience as construction moves forward.”

The boardwalk improvements support the direction of the 2023 Waterfront Master Plan and reflect public input collected through community engagement. Details about the project, timelines, and ongoing updates can be found on the municipality’s project page.
