​Kincardine Charity Bridge Club donates $7,500 each to Huron Shores Hospice, Women’s House

The Kincardine Charity Bridge Club has donated $7,500 each to Huron Shores Hospice, and Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey.

The presentations were made Friday afternoon in the seniors’ room at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.

The club has been playing duplicate bridge in Kincardine for more than 45 years. For most of those years, it has been donating to charities.

Since 2016, the club has donated about $65,000, including this year’s donation.

Jessica Daneluk, community engagement co-ordinator for Huron Shores Hospice in Tiverton, thanked the club for the very generous donation.

“The bridge club has been donating to the hospice since before the doors were opened,” she said. “The club has donated a total of $29,000, to date. This donation will go toward the third suite which we hope to open in 2026. With more doors opened, we can serve more people. Thank you for your support.”

Danielle Bois, community relations and fund development co-ordinator for the Women’s House, also thanked the club and said the organization has been serving this community for more than 40 years.

The club appreciates all the bridge players who have participated, with special thanks to Tom Rajnovich, director and manager, and the many volunteers. Also, thanks to the Municipality of Kincardine for allowing the club the use of the wonderful facilities at the Davidson Centre, and to the Davidson Centre staff.

Rajnovich said the club has about 60-80 people who play American Contract Bridge League (ACBL)-sanctioned bridge games two afternoons per week – Monday and Friday. The club also runs bridge lessons on Wednesday mornings.
