Kincardine Legion Corner
Happy New Year to all our Legion Corner readers! Let’s look forward to a fun year of Legion happenings and events in 2026.

In case you missed it during all the holiday rush, the Ace of Spades was found during the Dec. 24 Catch the Ace draw. A huge congratulations to Chris Weaver who selected Envelope No. 30, revealing the Ace of Spades, winning him an incredible jackpot of $58,778.50! The Kincardine Legion, Huron Shores Hospice, and the Tiverton and District Lions Club send out a big thank-you to everyone who purchased tickets and supported this fund-raiser. Because of you, we’re able to make a meaningful difference for our community organizations. Once again, we are so grateful to our wonderful ticket retailers for their ongoing support, including our bartenders at the Kincardine Legion Bar, Kwik Way in Tiverton, Sleepers Bed Gallery, Jean’s Family Restaurant and InStyle Hair Studio.

Thank you to everyone who attended our New Year’s Eve Party with the Adam Cousins Band, and to the band as well. A great time was had by all, despite some severe winter weather.

2026 is an historic year for the Royal Canadian Legion, marking 100 years of service, community impact, and Remembrance. During this Centenary year, community members who have never been Legion members before can join for free for the year. If you have ever considered joining Branch 183, now is the perfect time!
You can join on-line at portal.legion.ca/join or drop into the branch to fill out an application. Our membership chairperson, Kim, is happy to answer any questions. You can E-mail Kim at 05-183@legion.ca.
Please note the following important information: once you apply on-line or in-person (on paper), you will receive an E-mail from Dominion Command that includes your digital membership card and membership number. A plastic card will not be issued. If you do not see this E-mail, check your junk or spam folder. If it still does not appear, contact Kim and she can check for you.
One final note: Centenary (free) members do not attend an Induction Ceremony (swearing in) at a Legion meeting.
For renewing members, in case you missed it, when you renew for 2026, you’ll be automatically eligible to win a Ford F-150 in this exciting Centenary year sweepstakes!

The Saturday Meat Draws are back up and running and begin this weekend. The Thursday Night Bingos have also begun. The Family Dinner, Sunday, Jan. 11, will be a roast beef menu. The next Trivia Night is Friday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. and we will have wings and fries and nachos from 5-7:30 p.m.

Another event happening in January is the 39th Annual Robbie Burns Supper, presented by the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band. The event runs Saturday, Jan. 24, and doors open at 5:15 p.m., with dinner at 6 p.m. The dinner includes haggis and roast beef, and there will be the usual address to the haggis and traditional toasts. Tickets are $55 each; available at The Playful Piper in downtown Kincardine.

If you are a new member and want to see all the things that are happening at Branch 183, follow our Facebook page where you can check out our monthly calendars. Not on Facebook? You can also see the calendars on our Legion website at www.kincardinelegion.com. In addition to Bingos, Meat Draws, Family Dinners and Trivia, we also have Jam Sessions, Fiddlers, Darts, Euchre, the Walkie Talkies of 183 and so much more!

Of course all of these events are powered by our amazing volunteers, so if you are a new member and interested in helping out in some capacity, just ask and we can connect you with the right people, suited to your interests. We have lots of opportunities to join in!
