Kincardine Legion Corner
Thanks for taking a few minutes away from watching Team Canada compete in the Olympics to read this column -
GO CANADA GO!
We are still in the process of getting the new
Kin Cares 50/50 draw up and running. There are many steps to getting a new draw under way and we will definitely be announcing the big start date once we have it. We are very excited to partner with the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation on this endeavour. To stay in touch, be sure to follow the Kin Cares 50/50 Facebook page, and now we also have the Kin Cares 50/50 Instagram account ready, so be sure to follow that one as well. If you haven’t seen it yet, check those social media pages to see the new logo we have for the draw!
At the
Saturday Meat Draw, Jamie White was the triple-dipper. Christine Goodspeed won the 50/50 draw and took home a cash prize of $124. Congratulations to all the winners.
Recently Branch 183 made a
$3,000 donation to the Kincardine Food Bank to help with the important work those volunteers do for the community.
At the
Seniors District Dart Tournament in Hepworth, Feb. 7, our Branch 183 team, consisting of Steve Musselman, Terri Hogsden, Dan DerVeeken and Al Brown, played well and placed joint third out of 11 teams. Well done! The team will now progress to the Provincial Championships which will be April 11 in Victoria Harbour.
The next
Trivia Night will be Friday, Feb. 27. Sign-up for this one will begin Feb. 17, after Family Day, as we are closed on the Monday for the holiday. Remember that a table at trivia is $40, and you can have a maximum of eight players. You can play with seven if you wish, but the table would still be the same price. I neglected to mention that the winners of the January Trivia were the "Snow Blind Friends" with 103 points!
Everyone always wants to know what the food will be for our
Thursday Night Bingo. So, tonight, Feb. 12, is pulled pork and coleslaw, and next week, Feb. 19, will be turkey pot pie. Remember that Bingo card sales start at 5:45 p.m., with the games starting promptly at 6:45 p.m.
We have lots planned for our
New Member Meet and Greet, Saturday, Feb. 21, from 1-2:30 p.m. We have many new members which is amazing, so plan to drop by, meet the executive and other new members, and learn about what makes our Branch so amazing! We not only have an amazing building, we have extra-amazing members and volunteers. If you have never been a member before, you can join for free in 2026. You can do it easily on-line at
legion.ca/join-us and we will have membership forms available to fill out at the Meet and Greet, as well.
The days are slowly getting longer, so time to start planning for March and April. We have tickets on sale now at the Legion bar for our
St. Paddy’s Day Celebration, Saturday, March 14, with a Dinner and Dance at the Legion, for only $20 per person, and also for
The Mudmen at Branch 183, Saturday, April 25, for $35. So recruit your crew and secure your tickets.
Other Coming Events:
- Sunday, Feb. 22 - Family Dinner from 5-6:30 p.m. - Roast Beef Dinner
- Friday, Feb. 27 - Trivia Night at 7 p.m.
