Ontario investing $8.1-million in public safety, emergency services, infrastructure in Bruce County
The Ontario government is continuing to strengthen public safety, emergency response services, and community living infrastructure in Bruce County through the province's Mental Health Supports for Public Safety Personnel program, the Land Ambulance Service Grant, the Fire Protection Grant, and the Partner Facility Renewal Grant.
“Our government is proud to deliver meaningful investments that strengthen emergency services, protect the health and safety of our firefighters and paramedics, and support vital community organizations, such as Community Living of Walkerton and District," said Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson, minister of rural affairs.
"From mental health supports for public safety personnel, to modernizing fire halls and ensuring reliable paramedic services, these investments demonstrate our commitment to keeping families in Bruce County safe while enhancing the infrastructure that serves our communities every day."
The county will receive $25,000 through the Mental Health Supports for Public Safety Personnel program to help protect the mental health and well-being of front-line emergency personnel.
In addition, the county will receive $7,957,930 through the Land Ambulance Service Grant to support the delivery of timely and reliable paramedic services across the region.
The Municipality of Brockton will receive $36,223.56 through the Fire Protection Grant to enhance firefighter safety and emergency response capacity. Funding will support the construction of an addition to the Elmwood Fire Hall, including a dedicated decontamination laundry room and proper shower facilities. The grant will also fund the purchase of a Solo Rescue self-contained breathing apparatus decontamination washer for the Walkerton Fire Hall, helping to reduce firefighters' exposure to harmful contaminants.
