Purple Grove news
Gosh, the weather in March is unpredictable, to say the least! In like a lamb, out like a lion. Hope there weren't too many flooded basements around here, but sure feeling for the those who have to deal with that mess. We'll all be quoting the Boy Scout motto: "Be Prepared!"

The International Women's Day celebration, March 5, in Mildmay focused on encouraging and recognizing the women entrepreneurs in our communities, and was well-appreciated by those in attendance. Congratulations to the Women of Distinction award winners, Airianna Murdoch-Fyke and Kira Thompson, both of Kincardine! Thank you to the Women's House Serving Bruce and Grey and the Business to Bruce program for hosting the event.

Several families are grieving the loss of loved ones these past few weeks and we especially remember Josie Hamilton of Lucknow, Giselle Ireland of Teeswater, Nelson Taylor, Bryce Tanner and Marion MacLeod of Kincardine, and Jimmy Platten of Ripley. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of these special people.

Those celebrating birthdays this past week or so were Anne Eadie, Bruce Thomas, Mary Galliher, Danielle Aitken, Jade Aitken, Rhys Thompson, Marilyn Reid, Gail Vander Hoek, Daniel Griffin and Mary Murr. Coming up this weekend, Shirley and Harold Galloway will celebrate their 62nd Wedding Anniversary!

Area curling bonspiels are winding up at the various clubs. Hope some of you got some exercise and had fun doing it when you were throwing your rocks!

We're looking forward to the Ripley-Huron Figure Skating Achievement Day, March 26, beginning at 6 p.m.

The Ripley Agricultural Society is hosting its Chicken Dinner, March 28 - get your tickets by March 20.

4-H clubs are starting soon and some members already have the calves named for this year's project. Check in with the Bruce County 4-H website for the clubs near you!

Looking forward to the Purple Grove Women's Institute annual meeting, April 1 at 1:30 p.m., at the home of Dianne Simpson. We will welcome returning and new members, review our past year's activities and look forward to new experiences!
