Huron-Kinloss remuneration down significantly in 2025
Huron-Kinloss Township taxpayers spent $177,657.49 on council remuneration for 2025, down significantly from the $191,816.54 paid in 2024.
Treasurer Christine Heinisch presented the report at the March 16 council meeting, outlining the total cost for council members’ salaries and per diems, plus expenses. The report also lists payments of $3,689.64 from the conservation authorities & source protection committee to members of council, and $867.82 paid to members of the property standards committee.
- Mayor Don Murray received a total of 40,075.14, including $37,978.02 in salary and per diems, and $2,097.12 in expenses
- Deputy mayor Jim Hanna was paid $22,536.78, including $21,331.31 in salary and per diems, and $1,205.47 in expenses
- Councillor Larry Allison received $27,064.63, including $25,779.60 in salary and per diems, and $1,285.03 in expenses
- Councillor Shari Flett was paid $23,907.28, including $21,737.04 in salary and per diems, and $2,170.24 in expenses
- Councillor Scott Gibson received $18,690.44, including $17,931.08 in salary and per diems, and $759.36 in expenses
- Councillor Edward McGugan was paid $28,437.54, including $24,524.34 in salary and per diems, and $3,913.20 in expenses
- Councillor Carl Sloetjes received $16,945.68, including $16,363.92 in salary and per diems, and $581.76 in expenses
Allison also received $1,314.64, including $895 in salary, and $419.64 in expenses for serving on the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA), which is paid by the SVCA.
McGugan also received $2,250 in salary, for serving on the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA), paid by the MVCA.
Hanna also received $125 in salary, for serving on the source protection program, paid by the program.
Murray also received $750 in salary, for serving on the South Bruce OPP detachment board, paid by the board.
The following received remuneration for serving on the property standards committee:
- Doug Aitchison, $249.93, including $200 in salary, and $49.93 in expenses
- Audrey MacDonald, $100 in salary
- Sarah MacKenzie, $201.30, including $200 in salary, and $1.30 in expenses
- Joan McLaughlin, $116.59, including $100 in salary and $16.59 in expenses
- Philip VanHardeveld, $200 in salary
Total remuneration for 2025 was $177,657.49, and the report was approved by council.
