Off the Broom - Kincardine Curling Club season wraps up
Saturday, March 28, was our final bonspiel. The day consisted of two games, lunch and lots of socializing. It was nice to have so many younger players take part in this fun spiel.

The Grand Masters provincial finals were held at the Lindsay Curling club, March 19-21. This competition is for curlers who are age 70-plus. Taking part in this competition was local curler, Les Shane, who was part of the team representing the Bluewater club in Owen Sound. The team, including skip Al Hutchinson, vice Les Shane, second Don Shane, and lead Peter Eller, won three of four games and won the Art Lobel trophy in the second event. The overall winning team was the Willie Beaton rink of Guelph. Great job, guys!

Our curling season is now complete but not for some of our junior curlers who will be taking part in their own provincial finals, now known as the 2026 U12 and U15 Festival which will be held in Guelph, April 23-26. This competition was previously known as the elementary school championship and has been revamped to create a more age-appropriate event for young curlers. This festival is removing the school-board restrictions and, hopefully, lopsided match-ups so the curlers can have a more balanced and fun time at the event. We wish the juniors all the best when they make their way to Guelph.

The tentative date for our annual meeting is June 23 at 7 pm at the club. If there is a change in date, E-mails will be sent out. Please try to attend.

Our annual golf tournament will be held Sunday, June 7, at Ainsdale Golf Course. There is still room for more teams. Join us for a day of golf and good times!

Finally, a big thank you to our board of directors, ice crew, and all our volunteers who so willing give of their time to make our club run smoothly so we can all enjoy our year. We can’t thank our sponsors enough for their support throughout the year; they are so appreciated! Till next season, enjoy the summer!
