Crowd enjoys breakfast, wagon rides at Tiverton Winterfest Saturday

The weather was clear and cold for outdoor activities, but it was nice and warm inside for the Goodtimers pancake breakfast which kicked off Tiverton Winterfest Saturday morning, at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre.

The Goodtimers Hockey Club served bacon, eggs, pancakes and sausage, with all the fixings, to a good crowd, followed by a draw for sports tickets and a hockey jersey. The winners were Marlee Kirk of Tiverton, Shane Robinson of Kincardine, and John Hughes of Kincardine.

Youngsters enjoyed the story time and craft at the Tiverton Library, and then put on their snowmobile suits, hats, mitts and scarves, for the mule-drawn wagon rides beside the Tiverton Lions Hall.

Don and Yoka Scott and their family of Teeswater, brought their teams of mules to pull the wagon around the grounds, across the skiff of snow. Cedric Scott did the driving, with "Ruby" and "Pearl" pulling the wagon. Helping the riders on and off the wagon, was Chasity Massena, 12, of Tiverton. Youngsters also had an opportunity to pet the mules.

A Euchre Party was held at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre, Saturday afternoon, sponsored by the Tiverton Agricultural Society.

Tiverton Winterfest continues Sunday, with a worship service at 10 a.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, followed by a free chili lunch, courtesy of the Hutton family, at the church.

A family fun skating party with ice-painting, and free hot dogs, is at the Tiverton Arena, sponsored by the Tiverton Lions Club, and the day ends with Fiddle Tunes and Folks Songs by Eliza Jane at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre.
