Dr. Ian Arra no longer Grey Bruce medical officer of health
Dr. Ian Arra (above) will be moving on from his role of Grey Bruce medical officer of health, effective May 4.
That's the word from Jim Pine and Dr. Eileen de Villa, special advisors to the Ontario chief medical officer of health, Dr. Kieran Moore, in a press release issued Thursday (April 16).
Effective Thursday, Dr. Brittany Graham, public health physician consultant with Grey Bruce Public Health, is assuming the responsibilities of medical officer of health in an acting capacity. Arra has offered his full support to Graham as she takes on these critical duties.
Since last fall, Arra and public health staff, in collaboration with the counties of Grey and Bruce, have been working with the special advisors toward a renewed and strengthened health unit.
"We are grateful for their commitment to their communities," states the release. "As the renewed board of health is established, we are confident that Dr. Graham and health unit staff, supported by the counties of Grey and Bruce, will provide strong and effective leadership for public health in the region."
“I believe this is the right time for this transition and I have full confidence in the Grey Bruce Public Health team to continue the important work of protecting and promoting the health of our communities," said Arra.
"I am deeply grateful to the dedicated staff members for their professionalism and commitment which makes Grey Bruce Public Health exceptional, as well as to the boards of health and board members, the health ministry and the province for their support during the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery. I also thank our community members and partners – your collaboration has been essential to our success.”
