Kincardine Legion Corner
This coming weekend is a busy one at Branch 183! We have our
Trivia Night, tomorrow (April 24). All tables are sold out, so if you really want to play, you might have to find a team of seven that is in need of an extra. I realized I neglected to give a shout-out to our March Trivia Night winners, Team Sleuth of Beers.

Then we have
The Mudmen event, Saturday night, April 25. In case you're wondering, yes, there will be tickets at the door for this one, and the doors open at 7 p.m.
Sunday, April 26, we have our
Family Dinner at 5 p.m., with roast beef on the menu.
As of today, the
Kin Cares 50/50 jackpot has surpassed $14,000! Wow, we can’t thank the community enough for the support in our first month of sales. If you still have not bought tickets, be sure to get them in time for the next Early Bird Draw, which is tomorrow (Friday, April 24). The draw will be for a beautiful Blackstone barbecue, generously donated by the Satosek Family and our local Canadian Tire. Congratulations also to Steve Cumming, who won $500 in April 17’s Early Bird draw. Tickets for the April 50/50 draw will be on sale until Thursday, April 30 (11:59 p.m. for on-line purchases). Our first jackpot winner will be announced Friday, May 1! You can get your tickets on-line at
www.kincares5050.ca. You can also get them in person at the bar at Branch 183 and now you can also buy them at the Kincardine Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop at the hospital. So easy!
At the
Saturday Meat Draw, Cathy Alcombrack won the 50/50 draw and took home $121. Gloria Ferrier and Elmer Lamont were the two double-dippers, and Charlie was on the board again. Don’t forget our Mega Meat Draw with HWY 19 is only a few weeks away now.
Last Sunday,

Our Branch 183
Honours and Awards and Volunteer Appreciation Banquet is scheduled for Saturday, June 6. If you would like to nominate a deserving member or members for their volunteer efforts, the nomination box and ballots to nominate are on the mantle in the Legion club room. With this week being Volunteer Appreciation Week, what better time to recognize someone who has made a contribution to our Legion and the community?
Congratulations to Everlie Waite of Kincardine for placing first once again. She won in the intermediate category at the Area competition, April 18, in Fergus at Branch 275, which was for Districts C, D and E. This means Everlie is off to compete in the provincial finals, May 2, in Napanee. Good luck, Everlie, Branch 183 will be cheering you on!
Next week,
Burgers before Bingo begins. We will be grilling burgers, Thursday, April 30, starting at 5 p.m. You don’t need to be staying to play Bingo to come have some dinner, everyone is welcome. Also, Friday, May 1, will be our first Music Bingo Night, starting at 7 p.m. Here is a short recap of how it works - You buy a book of five games (two cards per game) for just $10. We play clips of songs from a variety of themed playlists, and if the song is on your card, mark it off — or, I guess, daub it, to use the correct bingo vernacular. Don’t worry if you don’t have a dauber, we will have some for sale that night. Get your lines, shout BINGO, win a prize. And yes … singing and dancing are highly encouraged. Bring your friends. Bring your best voice. Or just come for the laughs. This is our first one, and if you’ve never tried Music Bingo, this is your night to start. We hope to see everyone out!
If dancing to some swing music is your vibe, the first
Lighthouse Swing Band dance is Sunday, May 3, from 2-5:00 p.m. The theme of this dance is ‘Silver Screen Glamour,’ and there will be free dance lessons as well.
In wrapping up this week, we are excited to announce that we're adding some brand new beers at the Legion bar.
We will be offering three new beers from Cool Brewery. They're called Legion Ontario Command and we have a Light Lager, and Amber Lager and a Blonde Lager. They all feature the Legion logo on the can, and what is also great is that five-per-cent of sales come back to the Branch. In order for you to give it a try, we are doing a promotion - $5 for a tall can - until the end of April, so give it a try and see what you think. Yes, the name of the brewery is actually Cool, and when you think about it, what is cooler than hanging out at the Legion having a drink with the Legion logo on it, maybe even while wearing your Legion shirt.
Coming Events:
- Friday, May 22 - KDSS Fundraiser Trivia Night
- Saturday, May 23 - Branch 183 Cornhole Tournament - see our Facebook post for details on how to register
