Hans Dakin of Kincardine dies at the age of 80
Hans Josef Dakin of Kincardine died April 26, 2026, at the age of 80.

Born April 27, 1945, Hans grew up in London, England, and at the age of 15, with his parents, Ronald and Anne Dakin and two younger brothers, Fred and Les, immigrated to Canada in 1960, settling in Cambridge, Ontario.

He graduated from Galt Collegiate in 1964, and married Patricia Wells, Oct. 7, 1967.

The Dakins moved to Kincardine, in 1971, when Hans joined Ontario Hydro at Douglas Point. Subsequently, he worked for Ontario Power Generation (OPG), and contracted for Bruce Power.

Together, Hans and Pat had three children: Kimberley, Nicole, and Timothy.

In October, 1977, Hans made the most important decision of his life when he surrendered his will to Jesus Christ and became a Christian, “a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). However, tragedy came in 1984, when Pat developed cancer, and passed away, Nov. 18, 1984, at the age of 37.

Hans remarried, Nov. 23, 1985, after he had met Marcia Bedford of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, at a Christian singles conference in Rochester, New York. They have since celebrated more than 40 years of joyous marriage together, and have nine grandchildren: Joscelyne, Matthew, Kaleigh, and Kristi (predeceased in 2016); Michael and Tricia; Marianna, Joshua, and Alex; as well as two great-grandsons: Hudson and Brooks.

Hans and Marcia have been members of Lighthouse Fellowship Baptist Church in Kincardine for many years. Charitable donations in Hans’ name may be made to the church, designated to the Building Fund. Donations and condolences may be made on-line at www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com.

Please take note: “. . . if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

Friends and relatives are invited to visitation, Friday, May 1, 2026, from 7-8:30 p.m., at Lighthouse Fellowship Baptist Church, Kincardine.

The funeral will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the church, followed by a reception in the church hall.

Interment, Kincardine Cemetery, Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 2:30 p.m.
