Tom Scott of Tiverton remembered for his love of family and serving his community

Thomas George "Tom" Scott of Tiverton died May 15, 2026, at Huron Shores Hospice, at the age of 88.

Dearly missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Frances (Campbell); his children, Katy and Tom (Lisa); and cherished grandchildren, Mary, Sarah, Kathryn, Tommy and Malcolm.

Dear brother of Barb Strang of Owen Sound, Joan Osborne of Priceville; and sister-in-law, Mary Campbell of Kincardine. He will be greatly missed by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Tom was the son of Rev. Thomas A. and Vera Scott. Born in Norfolk County, he was raised in St Marys and Stratford.

He began his career in banking, which took him to several cities, including New York, Toronto and Los Angeles, as part of the international division of TD Bank, before eventually settling in Oakville. He embraced several career changes that led him into various business ventures. He retired from Gentek in 1999 and moved to Tiverton, where he and Mary settled into her family’s historic log home.

Tom was an integral part of the Tiverton community. He served on the Tiverton Ratepayers Association and the Bruce Telecom Board, and was a dedicated elder at Knox Presbyterian Church. He was also a proud member of the St. Andrew’s Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a long-time Mason with Bruce Lodge where he was honoured with his 50-year pin in 2017.

He was committed in his service to others and valued hard work throughout his life. Nothing brought him more joy than time spent with his family. Some of the family’s favourite memories are days at the lake or cottage, camping, fishing, woodworking, gardening, and barbecuing. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a funny one-liner on the tip of his tongue. He will be forever in our hearts.

A private family service will take place Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 1 p.m. A live-stream of the service will be available through Tom’s memorial page.

Private interment, Tiverton cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Knox Presbyterian Church in Tiverton or Huron Shores Hospice, would be appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences may be made on-line at www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com.
