David “Snap” Cuyler of Kincardine died May 23, 2026, at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, at the age of 76.
Born April 13, 1950, Dave grew up in Kincardine and spent his life deeply connected to the community he loved. He had a life-long passion for heavy equipment and long-distance trucking, eventually operating his own backhoe business.
Over the years, he also drove Can-ar bus, part-time, for more than 15 years, helped on the Wilksview Farm, and dedicated 23 years of service to the Municipality of Kincardine. His commitment to the community extended further through his time serving on Kincardine council.
Dave loved working on stock cars in his younger years, along with his buddies. He was a man full of stories, and people were naturally drawn to his warmth, humour, and gift for conversation. Known for his big smile and friendly wave, Dave seemed to know everyone — even in towns he was only passing through. He also held a deep love for history and genealogy, interests he shared often with family and friends.
Lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Joyce (née Wilken); his children, John Cuyler, Jeff Cuyler, Steve (Eli) McIver, all of Guelph, and Pam (Richard) Fox of St. Thomas.
Dearly missed by his grandchildren, Olin, Everleigh, Nikolas, Shianna, Kalina, Sevi, Mikyla, Morgan, and Jacob; and great-grandchildren, Gavin, River, Charlotte, and Rowan.
Also survived by his siblings, Joyce Duke of Kincardine and Bill (Pauline) Cuyler of Sarnia; his brother-in-law, Murray Wilken of Ripley; and sister-in-law, Barb (Doug) Dickinson of Kincardine; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dave was predeceased by his parents, John and Kathleen Cuyler; his son, Tim McIver; brothers, Clifton Cuyler and Bob Cuyler; sisters, Jean (George) Dobison and Milena (Bill) Lobb; and by his in-laws, Carl (Eva) Wilken, Eric Wilken, Harold Duke, and Gord Dickinson.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff members at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, for their care, compassion, and support during Dave’s final weeks and days. Special thanks are also extended to family members whose constant care and support meant so much.
A Celebration of Life will be held June 12, 2026, from 1-4 p.m. at the Kincardine Legion. Casual dress and scent-free.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Kincardine Hospital Auxiliary, would be appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences can be made at www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com.
