Saturday, Branch 183 hosted its first-ever Cornhole Tournament in the Legion Hall. The event was sold-out well in advance as 30 teams battled for Cornhole supremacy and cash prizes. Teams came from far and wide to compete. The tournament culminated in a final match, with Tony and Teresa versus Dustin and Brett. In the end, Tony and Teresa reigned supreme and earned the $250 cash prize. Dustin and Brett represented themselves admirably, earning $200 and the adulation of a massive viewing audience. Special thanks to Tracey Murray and Ralph for putting everything together. Word on the street is Branch 183 will be hosting more Cornhole Tournaments in the future. Keep an eye on our socials. Meanwhile if you’re Jonesing for the game, consider the Bulldogs Cornhole Tournament, July 11. Check their website/Facebook page for details.

The Saturday Meat Draw was also well-attended. The bonus was the Cornhole Tournament crowd purchased its share of tickets. Of note, the 50/50 draw was almost $350 - won, yet again, by Jamie White who purchased tickets to a total of $380. Good work, Jamie.

As we darken the door on the end of the month, we encourage you to buy your Kin Cares 50/50 tickets. The added chance will help you win big while we give back bigger. We invite you to join us Monday, June 1, at 4 p.m. for the live draw of the May 50/50 winner. Currently we’re approaching a $15,000 jackpot. How exciting if you bought a ticket and attended live to see your name selected. Best of luck. Get your tickets at https://kincares5050.ca/, the Kincardine Hospital Gift Shop and the Legion Bar. Also watch for us selling tickets at the Monday Market.

Coming up this week at the Legion, May 30 is ‘Back to the '80s and '90s’ Dance hosted by Todd Thompson and friends. Contact Todd for tickets.

May 29 is our Friday Trivia in the Legion Hall. Contact the Legion Bar to sign up your team. I’m guessing you’re all genius enough to have the other details memorized.

As we look ahead, June 6 is our Honours and Awards night. This is where volunteers are honoured for their work with Branch 183 during the previous year. An exquisite dinner is served, and the company is also appealing. If you’ve received an invitation, please RSVP at your earliest convenience. We also present membership pins to those who have accomplished a milestone. If you are one of our members who has reached one of these milestones and have not been contacted, please reach out to us (05.183@legion.ca) and tell us what we’ve missed. Then you will have the opportunity to be presented with your pin and enjoy a great night.

Hope to see you at Branch 183 this week. Watch our Facebook page for exciting updates.
