Beginning next week, the Municipality of Kincardine will be installing sharrows (shared-lane markings) on Queen Street, as well as bike lanes on Russell and Durham Streets, as part of council-approved work to support safer and more accessible travel options for all road-users.
That's the word from a press release, issued Thursday, by the municipality.
On Queen Street, sharrows will be installed to indicate that cyclists and motorists share the same travel lane and to help guide safe positioning along the roadway. These markings are intended to improve visibility of cyclists and reinforce safe sharing of the road.
Bike lanes will be installed on Russell Street and Durham Street, as part of ongoing efforts to improve connectivity within the community and support active transportation.
Work is scheduled to take place beginning the week of June 15 with completion in early July.
Locations:
Queen Street: sharrows will be installed from Durham Street South to Broadway
Russell Street: bike lanes will run from Highway 21 to Princes Street
Durham Street: bike lanes will run from Highway 21 to Princes Street
Residents can expect to see new pavement markings in these areas once work is complete. Please use caution when travelling through active work zones and be aware of crews and equipment.
