The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, offered through participating Bruce County Public Library branches, delivered another successful tax season for county residents this year.
Throughout March and April, thanks to the support of dedicated volunteers, free tax-filing assistance was available at five branches. The program helped ensure eligible residents were able to access financial support. Volunteers helped residents file 521 income tax returns, connecting individuals and families with more than $1.2-million in tax refunds and benefits, including GST Credit and Canada Child Benefit.
“The program’s success reflects the dedication of our volunteers and the strength of community partnerships," said library director Brooke McLean. "By helping residents to access the refunds and benefits available to them, the program makes a meaningful difference in the financial well-being of individuals and families across the county.”
Working with community partners, such as 211 Ontario, Bruce Grey Poverty Task Force, and Bruce County Human Services, allowed for a broader reach in the community and helped to directly connect with those residents that could benefit most from the program.
The library appreciates the volunteers who generously shared their time and expertise this tax season.
