Canada Day will soon be here, and we invite you to join the celebration at the Kincardine Legion, Branch 183. Wednesday, July 1, we will be having our annual Canada Day party, with HWY 19 providing some great music. It’s going to be sunny for sure, fingers crossed, so it will be a fun day on the patio, with some great food and drink, and plenty of Canadian pride! On the menu we will be barbecuing burgers, sausages, and hot dogs. If you haven’t tried a can of the new Legion beer, be sure to give it a try, there’s a Light Lager, an Amber Lager and a Blonde Lager. We will be selling tickets for a ‘daily’ Legion 50/50 draw with a winner drawn at the end of the day. We will also be drawing the Kin Cares 50/50 June jackpot winner live at 4 p.m., and we are hoping the winner will be at the Legion so we can present the cheque on the spot. Be sure to wear your red and white, and remember that everyone is welcome!

HWY 19 will be performing at this year's Legion Canada Day party
Our Branch 183 Colour Guard will be marching in the Canada Day Parade next week. If any other Legion members would like to walk in the parade, meet our sergeant-at-arm Kirk Rutledge at Victoria Park at 10:45 a.m., July 1. If you don’t have a uniform, consider wearing a white shirt and grey pants.
The June Kin Cares 50/50 Draw jackpot is more than $14,000 and still growing. Congratulations to Diane Wylds-Molnar, who won $500 in last Friday’s second Early Bird draw for June. Tickets for the June 50/50 Draw will be on sale until Tuesday, June 30 (11:59 p.m. for on-line purchases). Kin Cares 50/50 is our ultimate win-win project, funding veteran support and hospital expansion right here at home.

The Saturday Meat Draw saw no double-dippers at all, with all the prizes spread out among eight winners. The 50/50 draw was won by Al Topping, who took home a cash prize of $90.50. Congratulations to all the winners.
Let’s keep talking about winners and congratulate the five winners who won games at last Friday’s Music Bingo Night. Taking home some cash that night were Marg Culleton, Lesley Graham, Terri Woods, Craig Milburn, and Gwen Cavasotto who won the final game with the $200 prize. It was a super night filled with cheers, groans, plenty of singing, and even some dancing. It was great when the crowd kept singing the rest of the song when the song faded out before the next one. Once again, our MC Russ Crook kept everyone on track with song info, trivia, and totally true stories. We will have five more new playlists for our July Music Bingo Night, so mark Friday, July 24, on your calendar, or put it in your phone, or your watch, or on a sticky note on the fridge!
The next Trivia Night is tomorrow, June 26. Good luck to all the teams and please note there will be no Trivia Night in July or August, but things will pick up again in September.
Branch 183 recently made a $1,000 donation to Huron Shores Hospice in support of the amazing work it does in the community.

Last week, we mentioned we will be having a Veterans' Barbecue, followed by a public open house, Friday, July 17, which marks the 100th Anniversary of the Legion. We are still working on the fine details and schedule for the day, as we thank our veterans for their service and to celebrate the Legion Centenary year. Watch our Facebook page for more details about this day, and if you know a veteran please let him/her know the date.
