Huge crowd gathers in downtown Kincardine for first Saturday Night Parade of the summer

A huge crowd gathered Saturday evening, to enjoy the first Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band Saturday Night Parade of the summer, in downtown Kincardine.

It was sunny and warm as people lined the street at Victoria Park to watch the pipers and drummers form up behind drum major Lorne Smith, and march toward Queen Street and north to Quinn Plaza and then back to the park for a concert.

Most of the crowd marched behind the band, gathering momentum as the parade moved north.

New to the piping section, was Parker Bosman of Kincardine who was marching in his first Saturday Night Parade.

Meanwhile, new to the drumming section, was Greg Masur of Kincardine. A retired Bruce Power worker, he decided he needed to try something different. With the help of drummer Mike Smith of the Kincardine Scottish, Masur learned to play the snare drum and joined his first parade Saturday night.

Also marching with the Kincardine Scottish, was Hugh Murray of the Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums. He enjoys his summers at Bruce Beach where his parents owned a cottage for years.

The Saturday Night Parades are a marvellously-unique tradition in Kincardine, that continue every Saturday at 8 p.m., throughout the summer.
