David Norman (Norm) MacArthur of Kincardine died peacefully, June 19, 2026, in Huntington Beach, California, at the age of 71.
Norm leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Betty Ann (Shelton); his sons, Jamie (Jodi), Joey, and Reggie (Grace); and his cherished grandchildren, Alex, Trent, Chase, Madison, Quentin, Castor, and Beckett.
He will also be deeply missed by his siblings, Don (Dianne), Dianne (Rod), Bob (Gwen), and Kitty Hewitt; his brother-in-law, Wayne (Lorraine) Shelton; and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents, Angus and Ina (Eckenswiller) MacArthur; his sisters, Sheila (Bill Robertson) and Barb (Murray White); his brothers-in-law, Henry Woytas and Larry Hewitt; and his nephew, Michael Woytas.
Born and raised on the 9th Concession of Kincardine, Norm was a farmer at heart. He and Betty Ann began their life together farming, building not only a livelihood but a family rooted in hard work and community. Although his path eventually led him beyond the farm, the values it instilled in him remained with him throughout his life.
In 1984, Norm founded Global Heat, growing it into a successful business before selling the company in 1998. Never one to stop building, he founded Superheat in 2001. Under his leadership, the company expanded into a global organization with more than 25 offices around the world.
As successful as he was in business, Norm's greatest accomplishment was his family. He worked alongside Jamie on the farm and later, with Joey and Reggie at Superheat. He took immense pride in his seven grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who could always be counted on when someone needed him.
Norm truly embodied the saying, "You can take the man off the farm, but you can't take the farm out of the man." While business took him around the world, he never lost his humility, his work ethic, or his love for the land. In later years, some of his happiest moments were spent by the lake with Betty Ann, enjoying the quieter pace of life together.
He will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, his loyal friendships, his humility despite remarkable success, and his genuine belief in the potential of others. His kindness, generosity, quiet strength, and encouragement left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 17, 2026, from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine.
