Giving Cruise Day returns July 31, with $100,000 matching goal for Kincardine Hospital

The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation has announced the return of Giving Cruise Day, Friday, July 31, a one-day community fund-raising event held in partnership with Cruise Night in downtown Kincardine.

This year, Giving Cruise Day is powered by an extraordinary act of generosity: two long-standing community families — Wayne and Janet Palmateer, and Dotty McClelland — have each contributed a $25,000 matching gift, creating a combined $50,000 match for the community to unlock.

The Palmateer and McClelland families care deeply about keeping health care strong close to home, and their generosity is giving this campaign a real lift,” said foundation president Becky Fair. “We are now incredibly close to reaching our $18-million community share for the hospital expansion and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machine — a goal that reflects years of dedication from donors across our region.

"Giving Cruise Day is an important moment in this journey. It’s a day where the local community works together, and every gift helps push us closer to the finish line. With this $50,000 match, every dollar donated on July 31 will be doubled, creating an even greater impact for health care in our community.”

HOW TO GIVE, JULY 31

  • On-line: All day at Donate - Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation
  • In person: 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Giving Cruise Day tent in front of HuronTel in downtown Kincardine
  • Accepted: Cheque (payable to Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation), cash, credit card; tax receipts provided for all donations of $20 or greater
  • Donations can be pledged over time - stop by the tent to learn more

We’re asking the community to work together once again,” said Stephanie Farrell, foundation board director and Giving Cruise Day organizer. “With the Palmateer and McClelland families stepping forward, this is a moment where every gift — big or small — goes twice as far.”

Community members who would like to learn more about supporting the campaign can contact capital campaign manager Mark Womack at 519-396-3331, Ext. 4335 or kfcapitalcampaign@outlook.com.
