The Swajan Samanvay Sanatan Centre, in partnership with Bruce Power, is inviting residents and visitors to the fifth annual Hindu Culture Open House, Saturday, Aug. 15, from 2:30-5:30 p.m., in Victoria Park, Kincardine.
This free community event welcomes everyone, regardless of faith, culture, or background, to experience Hindu traditions, connect with neighbours, and celebrate the diversity that makes the region stronger.
The afternoon will feature opportunities for guests of all ages to learn, participate, and enjoy cultural experiences, including:
A colourful community parade through Victoria Park
Yoga and meditation sessions promoting health and wellness
Interactive cultural exhibits showcasing Hindu traditions, art, history, and philosophy
Complimentary traditional Indian cuisine
Music and dance performances
Hands-on activities, including henna art, friendship-band tying, and trying on traditional attire
Opportunities to connect with local families, volunteers, and community organizations
The open house was founded by Chandra Tripathi as part of the Kincardine Multicultural Celebration initiative, with the goal of bringing people together through dialogue, understanding, and shared experiences.
Over the past five years, the event has grown into a valued community gathering, creating opportunities for residents from across Grey, Bruce, and Huron counties to connect, learn from one another, and celebrate cultural traditions.
Through this annual celebration, the Swajan Samanvay Sanatan Centre continues to promote the values that connect communities — respect, compassion, friendship, service, and belonging.
Residents are invited to enjoy an afternoon of food, music, culture, and conversation. Whether you are interested in learning about Hindu traditions, trying new food, enjoying performances, participating in activities, or meeting new people, everyone is welcome.
“The Hindu Culture Open House is about more than sharing traditions — it is about creating opportunities for people to gather, learn from one another, and build friendships," says Tripathi. "When we share our stories, food, music, and experiences, we strengthen the connections that make our community welcoming and inclusive.”
