New Kincardine chief administrative officer (CAO) Alan Smith (above) was welcomed at his first council meeting, Wednesday night (July 22), after officially taking over the position from interim CAO Kimberly Wingrove, Monday (July 20).
"I'm honoured to join this organization and this community," said Smith. "Kincardine has a strong reputation for civic pride, natural beauty, economic opportunity and people who care deeply about the place they call home."
He said he is grateful for the confidence council has placed in him and looks forward to earning that confidence every day, through thoughtful advice, responsive service and steady leadership.
"Municipal government is a team effort," he said. "I have already seen the dedication that exists within this organization.
"As CAO, my role is to support council in advancing its priorities, to ensure the organization is well-aligned and accountable, and help deliver services that residents, businessses and visitors can rely on. That means listening carefully, communicating clearly, making evidence-informed recommendations and working with staff to turn council direction into practical results.
"I'm excited about what we can accomplish together. My commitment is to work collaboratively with council, respectfully with the community, and supportively with staff, while keeping the values of accountability, transparency and service at the centre of our work.
"Thanks again for the warm welcome. I'm pleased to be here. I'm proud to serve the Municipality of Kincardine and I'm ready to get to work."
