Donations to Kincardine Fire Department; and to the Kincardine Library
It was a week of donations for the betterment of the Kincardine community.
Firstly, a presentation by the Bervie Women's Institute to the Kincardine Fire Department.
In honour of the 119th anniversary of the Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario, all the W.I.s in the area were invited to join in the Quincy Project. Each group was given copies of the book, “Quincy and His Quilt: a Northern Adventure,” written by Loreen Ambler, formerly of Kincardine.
The groups then purchased little teddy bears or made small quilts or blankets to wrap up with the books, and delivered them to a children’s hospital/ward, police department or fire department Feb. 19 which is Women's Institute Day.
The Bervie W.I. presented two packages, each containing the Quincy book, a teddy bear and blanket. One is for the Kincardine fire station, and the other is for the Tiverton Fire station. The kits are to comfort children following a traumatic event.
Kincardine fire chief Kent Padfield thanked the ladies for the donation. "I will ensure our staff is informed of your gift and the kits will be placed on the fire apparatus in our Kincardine and Tiverton fire stations."
