Hoping everyone had a safe and fun long weekend again! It looks as if Cruise Night in downtown Kincardine was a popular place to be and congratulations to all who brought vehicles to show off! And thanks to everyone who contributed to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation campaign for the Kincardine Hospital!
The Purple Grove Women's Institute ladies and guests enjoyed a summer outing to Saugeen Shores with lunch at The One in Port Elgin. Members then visited the lovely shops in Southampton, including the arts centre. This was followed by the Bruce County Playhouse’s production of “Murder at Ackerton Manor.” A fun day and thank you, especially, to Bren de Leeuw, Robyn Bridge and Christine Bridge for all your planning.
Harvey and Bren de Leeuw enjoyed a trip to Collingwood where they met up with friends now living in Whistler, British Columbia – Norm and Jen Nairn, formerly of Brantford. It was the perfect day for a drive and it was especially nice seeing the fruit trees in that area. They also enjoyed a visit this past week from their brother, Chris Pope, of Port Hope, and brother-in-law, Bob Wilkinson, of Owen Sound. Bob drove down in his “Bullitt Mustang” to participate in the Kincardine Cruise Night.
Thomas, Becca and Everett Farrell, together with Brian and Christine Bridge, all of the Southline, ventured to Toronto this week to see the Foo Fighters in concert. A very first music event for Everett!
Our community is saddened to learn of the passing of Michael Hodgins of Ripley. We extend our deepest sympathy to Darlene, Joe and Janice, Kelly and the Hodgins family. He will be missed by everyone who knew and worked with him.
Congratulations to Ian and Jean MacDonald, and Brian and Gail Johnson on celebrating their 50th wedding anniversaries recently!

Family and friends gathered last Saturday evening at the home of Merv and Kim Arnold to celebrate the 70th birthdays of Kim and Reine Arnold de Gans!

Congratulations to the organizers, sponsors and exhibitors at the Lucknow 4-H Dairy Invitational, Monday. The Lucknow show is now Canada's largest one-day event and this year, 171 4-H members and their calves were presented for the judge, Devin O'Hara. The Premier County Award went to Perth County with 46 members attending, Grey County was second and Middlesex County was third.
Congratulations, also, to the Walkerton 155th Homecoming committee on a great weekend of fun, music and food with family and friends! The slogan this year was Mingle and ReMix. Home-decorating contests and the parade, with teams of horses and the famous Teeswater Dancing Tractors, the IPM 2026 float, and so many others, and then fireworks to finish off the weekend! There will be more stories to tell until the next one rolls around. Well done, everyone!
Looking forward to the Ripley Food, Arts and Craft Festival, Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Ripley-Huron Community Centre. There's sure to be some great food, fashion and all types of design work!
It's been a great harvest season and it's wonderful to see the wheat and grain being combined. Take care, everyone, out in the fields and on the roads and have a good week!
