It’s an understatement to say Kincardine is a hopping place in the summer.
Just getting outside this summer is a joy whether you’re walking, running, biking, trail-hiking or simply cruising around. The surrounding beaches have so much to offer as well. From swimming and surfing to exploring Boiler Beach and its historical boiler, this region is truly amazing.
And, of course, those gorgeous sunsets. It’s only recently that those sunsets have sunk in with me (yes, there’s a sunny pun in there somewhere!).
Just take a look at some of the events that are on in Kincardine in August.
From summer concerts in the park by the shoreline to the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band Parade every Saturday night and the Phantom Piper playing the sun down every night except Saturday, along with the Monday Market in Victoria Park, and events at the Kincardine Legion and other spots, there’s no reason for boredom or a lack of entertainment, but just to be happily exhausted by it all.

We were serenaded by the Scottish Festival and the Blues Festival in Kincardine in July. The music, cool events and food continue throughout August.
If food is your attraction, there’s the Kincardine Ribfest this weekend at Victoria Park.
The Kincardine Community Concert Band's Music in the Park Series at Dunsmoor Park, Wednesday nights from 7:30-9 p.m., continues with:

If you want to shake a leg, the Lighthouse Swing Band performs at the Kincardine Legion, Aug. 9 and Sept. 13. It is so much fun to watch folks who really know how to dance! There’s also an opportunity to participate in free dance instruction by their professional dance teachers. Note: there is a fee to get in.
The Hindu Culture Open House, Aug. 15, from 2-6 p.m., at Victoria Park, offers a cultural exchange and a celebration of diversity. A number of activities are planned, such as offering Henna painting. Personally, I’m going to try out their yoga and meditation session. My step-dad was born and raised in India so I can’t wait to try some awesome traditional food.
Also Aug. 15, at 10 p.m., off the North Pier, we celebrate the delayed Canada Day fireworks show.
Then there’s my personal favourite, the 11th annual Marine Heritage Day, Aug. 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will have the tall ships, a rescue unit display and dockside tour on an OPP Boat, along with free Walker House and Lighthouse tours and shipwreck exhibits.
Don’t forget The Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band presents the 35th annual Massed Band event, Aug. 29. This event is sure to keep families busy since it runs from Noon to midnight, and admission is free.
Sept. 4 is the next Cruise Night. It's always interesting to see the vintage and unique vehicles parked along Queen Street in downtown Kincardine
As we move into September, mark your calendars for the 175th Kincardine Fall Fair, hosted by the Kincardine Agricultural Society, Sept. 4-5, at Connaught Park.
