Four arrested after police seize drugs, vehicles and a firearm in Arran-Elderslie

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) - A search warrant executed in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie resulted in the seizure of a quantity of illegal drugs, stolen vehicles and a firearm.

An investigation, initiated by members of the South Bruce OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) and Offender Management and Apprehension Program (OMAP), led investigators to an address in Arran-Elderslie.

Tuesday, July 28, a search warrant was executed at an address on Concession 4, which resulted in the seizure of suspected methamphetamine, a firearm and ammunition, multiple vehicles, and offence-related property, including phones and construction equipment. The estimated street value of the suspected controlled substances is $1,940, and the recovered property value is estimated at $90,500.

Joseph McNICHOL, 51 of Arran-Elderslie, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 - five counts

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

  • Possession of a Firearm of Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order - three counts

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - methamphetamine

Birgit RAPELJE, 57, of Arran-Elderslie, has been charged under with:

  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 - five counts

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - methamphetamine

Justin GROVE, 34, of Arran-Elderslie, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 - five counts

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - methamphetamine

Julia SUNNERTON, 36, of Arran-Elderslie, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 - five counts

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - methamphetamine

All four charged parties were arrested, held for a bail hearing, and remanded into custody.

Officers from the South Bruce OPP, Grey-Bruce OPP CSCU, Wellington County OPP CSCU, South Bruce OPP OMAP, Provincial Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE), West Region OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Central Region OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, West Region OPP Emergency Response Team and West Region OPP Canine Unit assisted with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
