The Kincardine Air Cadets are having a fund-raiser barbecue at the Kincardine Legion, Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 4-7 p.m. They will have hamburgers and hot dogs, by donation, and drinks can be purchased. Everyone in the community is welcome, so bring the whole family! You will also be able to sign up your cadet at the open house information night. Please bring identification and health cards for new cadets.
The Legion branch is bringing East Coast flair to the community, Saturday, Sept. 12, for the Down East Lobster Feast. The afternoon kicks off when doors open at 3 p.m., followed by a performance by The Celtic Hillbillies at 4 p.m. Dinner will begin at 5 p.m. and run until 7 p.m., boasting a classic menu of fresh lobster rolls, kettle chips, and a sweet dessert. In addition to tasting a featured Blueberry Screech Mojito at the bar, guests can purchase tickets to enter a draw for a "Lobster Dinner for Two," or participate in the traditional "Come From Away" initiation ceremony to become official honourary Kincardinites (fishes will get kisses!). Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased in advance at the Legion bar. Tickets are going quickly so be sure to get yours soon!
The floor renovations in the Branch Club Room are coming along nicely. Reidcraft Renovations is working hard to get everything level before laying the new flooring, and it does take some time for each stage. We hope to be done by the beginning of next week, but if it takes a little longer, we will notify groups about any cancellations as soon as we can. Watch our Facebook page for updates.
Thursday Night Bingo is still on, and our burgers are still being cooked as usual! Doors open at 4 p.m., and please note that the upstairs is still under construction and remains closed. Good luck to all our Bingo players!
The August Kin Cares 50/50 jackpot has already surged past $13,000, and a huge thank you goes out to everyone who has been stopping by to buy tickets at the Monday Market! With excitement building, be sure to get your August tickets soon, so you don't miss the first $500 Early Bird draw this Friday, Aug. 14. This will be followed by a second $250 Early Bird draw, Friday, Aug. 21. Final sales for the grand jackpot run until 11:59 p.m., Monday, Aug. 31, for on-line purchases, with the grand prize winner officially announced, Tuesday, Sept. 1. Tickets can be purchased on-line at www.kincares5050.ca or in person at the Kincardine Legion and the Auxiliary Gift Shop at the Kincardine Hospital.
We had two double-dippers at Saturday Meat Draw, with both Charlie Samms and Russ Dodman winning two prizes. Linda Durkin took home $180 in the 50/50 Draw. Congratulations to all the winners, and remember there is NO Meat Draw this Saturday due to our renovations.
Music Bingo is back next week, Friday, Aug. 21! The playlists are queued, the cards are being printed, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to the branch. Based on popular feedback, our kitchen will be serving up a delicious Beef on a Bun special for just $7, from 6-8 p.m. Bring your singing voice, your lucky dauber, and a big appetite for a fantastic night of music and community fun. If you haven’t been yet, cash prizes for each game are typically between $80 and $200, and MC Russ also gives out some fun prizes throughout the night for singing, dancing, or maybe just being cool.
Some dates for upcoming leagues include: Shuffleboard will start during the second week of September, and Euchre will begin Oct. 8. Branch Golf will be Sunday, Sept. 27, starting at 2:30 p.m. Be sure to drop by the branch starting Sept. 21 to get your name on the sign-up list.
