Boxwood shrubs being removed from Kincardine Cemetery

Many of the Boxwood shrubs throughout the Kincardine Cemetery have been severely damaged by an invasive insect and can no longer be saved.

In a press release, issued Thursday, the Municipality of Kincardine states that cemetery staff has identified numerous affected shrubs that will, unfortunately, need to be removed for safety and appearance reasons.

If you have a family plot with Boxwood shrubs that appear to be affected, you should contact cemetery staff to provide permission for the removal of these shrubs. Staff will wait for permission before removing the affected shrubs. The area will then be restored with topsoil and grass seed.

The goal is to maintain the cemetery grounds in a respectful and well-kept condition while preserving the dignity of this place of remembrance.

For questions or to provide permission, contact cemetery staff at 519-396-8496.
