A new set of wheels is opening a world of possibilities for nine-year-old Layla Thompson of Kincardine, thanks to the generosity of the community and the Pedals of Possibility fund-raiser.
Pedals of Possibility, organized by Cody Russwurm of Cody’s Egg Shack in Walkerton, raised funds to provide specialized, accessible bikes and tricycles to local children with mobility needs. This gives each child the opportunity to experience the freedom, independence and joy that comes with riding a bike.
Layla was one of the lucky recipients, and her family says she has been loving every minute of it!
“Layla has enjoyed using her new bike so much," says her mother, Erin. "We have been up and down the southline visiting family, and the girls were especially excited to bike to the Back Forty Baker's shop for some treats from Becca Farrell! We are so thankful to Cody and his family for making this happen for Layla!”
The new trike has given Layla the opportunity to join her sisters on their biking adventures — something her family is especially excited about.
For Layla and her family, this isn't just a new bike — it's a chance to participate, explore, build independence and make memories together with her sisters.
A huge thank you to Cody and everyone who supported Pedals of Possibility for helping make these special moments possible. What an amazing reminder of what can happen when a community works together to create possibilities for everyone!
