The following is a community update from the Kincardine Hospital capital campaign co-chairpersons, Graham Mahood and Kathryn Freimanis:
The Kincardine hospital redevelopment and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) project continues to gain momentum as our community rallies together toward the $18-million local share required for this once-in-a-generation investment in health care.
With extraordinary support from donors, the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation has now raised $15.5 million.
Our inaugural Lighthouse-to-Lighthouse Half Marathon and 5K is quickly approaching, and excitement is building.
Oct. 4, 500 runners who have been training with purpose, will take on their distance and raise funds for local health care. A heartfelt thank you to our event sponsors, whose support has helped bring this first-ever run to life.

International Plowing Match and Rural Expo – Sept. 22–26
This month, the foundation is proud to host a booth at the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo, taking place just outside Walkerton in the Municipality of Brockton. The IPM is one of Ontario’s largest rural events, drawing thousands of visitors from across the province — a perfect opportunity to share the story of Bruce County’s first MRI and the urgent need to complete our local share fund-raising.
Annual Diwali Dinner – Oct. 22
We are delighted to share that the annual Diwali Dinner returns Oct. 22. Hosted by the Swajan Samanvay Sanatan Centre, the evening is a celebration of unity and generosity rooted in the timeless principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the world is one family. In the spirit of Diwali, with Hindu volunteer families preparing a delicious meal, the event raises funds for the "Building Health Care for Generations" campaign. Ticket information will be available on the foundation's Facebook page and website.

Keith and Linda Battler are known throughout our community for their generous support of so many local initiatives, and now are contributing $50,000 to this generational hospital expansion and MRI campaign. Thank you!
Alex Lloy turned 75 and with his partner, Rosemary Superville, threw a giant birthday and invited friends and family to support the campaign in lieu of gifts. It must have been quite the party, since Alex brought in a cheque for $7,500. Thank you!
