About 50 cows, 20 calves die in barn fire in Brockton

(BROCKTON, ON) – Feb. 24, at about 9:19 p.m., the South Bruce OPP, together with the Elmwood Fire Department, responded to a rural structure fire on Concession 12 in the Municipality of Brockton.
 

The structure, a large barn housing dairy cattle and farm equipment, was destroyed by the fire. Fifty cows and 20 calves perished as a result. The damage/loss was estimated in excess of $500,000.
 

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time but does not appear to be suspicious.
 

The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office has been contacted.
