Some of you may have read or heard about something called a "Men's Shed" but what is it?
This is an independently-operated group that works to improve men’s health by combating loneliness and depression, through interaction with other men.
There are no expectations other than to gather, have a coffee or tea and enjoy each other's company. As is often the case, ideas pop up for road trips, hiking, scale-model building, and much more. Some groups may have an actual shed that they meet in or have access to, to take on projects. Many Sheds find their focus doing woodworking. Some Sheds meet in the local Legion Hall. The Saugeen Shores Men's Shed meets in the Chantry Centre in Southampton.
The Men’s Shed Kincardine is holding its inaugural meeting, Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 9:30 a.m., at the Kincardine Legion, 219 Lambton Street, Kincardine. There will be coffee, tea and snacks with a presentation outlining the Shed movement.
For further information on how to get involved with the Men's Shed movement, call Gerry at 519-793-3005 or by E-mail at brucemensshed@gmail.com.
