(ORILLIA, ON) - The OPP auxiliary members across the province will unite Saturday, Oct. 3, for Operation FULL PLATE, a one-day food drive aimed at supporting local food banks and helping address food insecurity in communities across Ontario.
Serving communities has been at the heart of the OPP auxiliary program for more than 65 years. Operation FULL PLATE builds on that tradition of service by bringing auxiliary members and the communities they serve together to support local food banks and help address food insecurity challenges affecting people in every region of Ontario.
"Service doesn't always look the same," says acting auxiliary staff-sergeant Matthew Manor. "Sometimes it's supporting front-line officers, sometimes it's helping at a community event, and sometimes it's making sure a neighbour has food on the table. Operation FULL PLATE reflects what our auxiliary members have always been about: showing up for their communities when it matters."
Members of the public are encouraged to support Operation FULL PLATE by donating non-perishable food items and other essential goods at participating community collection locations this Saturday.

The OPP auxiliary program consists of dedicated volunteers who support OPP members and communities across Ontario. Since the program was established in 1960, auxiliary members have supported front-line policing, emergency response, crime prevention initiatives, community events and public education. Today, more than 500 OPP auxiliary members serve communities across the province.
