Those affected by the apartment building fire at 915 Huron Terrace in Kincardine, will be made welcome at the winter coat distribution next week.
That's the word from organizer Wendy Cox who says she was contacted by one of the evacuees of that building, and has agreed that they may come early to the distribution, Thursday, Oct. 22, at 5 p.m., at Knox Presbyterian Church, Kincardine. The main distribution is slated for that day, from 6-9 p.m., and Friday, Oct. 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
"They are welcome to pick up whatever they need," says Cox. "We do have lighter clothing, as well as outerwear, footwear and accessories. This does not mean that the rest of the community will miss out. We have received a huge amount of donations so there should be plenty for all. To be fair and thorough, we will also take a list of needs which we are unable to fulfill across Thursday and Friday and try and get those supplied as soon as possible."
In addition, Cox is moving the food support Good Food Box tokens to a future month, from October's distribution (also Oct. 22, in the morning), at the request of evacuees, as long as they contact her before Sunday when the order is submitted.
And instead of sending out leftover produce from the Good Food Box at the end of the morning, she will make it available to those coming to pick up clothing that evening.
