Kincardine's Dancing With the Stars celebrates six years of fund-raising

An evening of dancing, friendly competition, and community spirit is returning to Kincardine, Saturday, Nov. 7, with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of South Bruce North Huron's annual gala fund-raiser, Dancing With the Stars.

Debuting in 2019, the gala has raised more than $130,000 in support of youth programs in the region. The funds raised through the event help the agency provide young people with access to caring adult mentors and the benefits of positive, supportive relationships.

Dancing With the Stars pairs community members with experienced dancers, challenging the participants to learn and perform ballroom routines in a few short months. While the dancing provides plenty of entertainment and friendly competition, the focus of the evening remains on raising funds to support local youth.

“Dancing With the Stars has become such a special event for our community,” says gala chairperson Linda Johnson, president of the local Big Brothers and Big Sisters board. “The incredible support we receive from participants, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who attends, allows us to continue supporting and investing in young people right here in our communities. The dancing is what brings everyone together, but the impact goes far beyond the dance floor.”

The agency serves young people and families across a large geographic area, including Kincardine, Ripley, southern Bruce County, and communities throughout northern Huron County. The organization provides a range of mentoring programs designed to help young people build confidence, develop social skills, and create meaningful connections.

With demand for mentoring services continuing across the region, fund-raising remains an important part of ensuring the agency can reach more young people.

Previous Dancing With the Stars events have demonstrated the generosity of the communities served by the organization. In 2025, the event raised more than $30,000, with proceeds going directly toward the creation and delivery of programs for local youth.

This year’s Dancing With the Stars will take place Nov. 7 at the historic Kincardine Dance Hall Pavilion with five couples taking to the dance floor. The evening will include dinner, a raffle for a generously-donated necklace from Gemini Jewellers, and of course, plenty of lively entertainment.

In-person tickets and virtual tickets are available at ticketscene.ca/series/1714.
