Harry Clarke Gregg, formerly of Kincardine, died peacefully, at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital, Oct. 20, 2026, at the age of 93.
Born April 7, 1933, in Kincardine, Harry lived a long, accomplished, and meaningful life filled with love, family, and deep connections. Though his life and career took him to various places, his true happy place was always the family cottage back in Kincardine. Time spent there with family, friends, and the beloved family Shelties, were truly the best of times. A man who could never just sit still, Harry was always happily puttering around the cottage — unless, of course, it was time to enjoy a cocktail with friends or catch up on the daily newspapers.
Harry also held a deep love for his country roots, fondly remembering summer months spent at his grandparents' farms and staying connected with his cousins who raised Clydesdales. He always made sure to make time for his annual trip to the Royal Winter Fair to watch the boys show the horses.
In 1952, Harry began a distinguished career in the financial sector at the Bank of Montreal in Kincardine. He later transferred to the St. Thomas branch, a pivotal move, where he met the love of his life and future wife, Helen. Throughout his time with the Bank of Montreal, Harry was known for his forward-thinking approach, working on numerous cutting-edge projects within the institution. In 1985, he brought his talents to the Royal Bank of Canada, and later to ANZ Bank Canada. His vast experience and deep understanding of financial matters eventually allowed him to smoothly transition into the insurance industry in his later years, where he continued to serve others with integrity.
Predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen Ann Gregg (nee Pritchard), with whom he shared many wonderful years; and his parents, Percy and Florence Gregg.
Harry's legacy lives on through his devoted family. He is survived by his daughter, Beth; his son, Jeffrey, and daughter-in-law, Cathy; his grandson, Colin, and granddaughter-in-law, Sandra; and his granddaughter, Dana.
He will be dearly missed by his sister, Shirley; his brothers, Tom (Marg) and Andy (Julie); as well as many loving cousins and extended family members.
A gentle, active, and social soul who valued professional excellence, a good laugh, and the closeness of family, Harry will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026, from 4-8 p.m., at the Glen Oaks Funeral Home (3164 Ninth Line, Oakville).
The funeral will be held Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, at 11 a.m., at Clarkson Road Presbyterian Church (1338 Clarkson Road North, Mississauga). Following the church service, a reception will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home, from 1-3 p.m., where loved ones can gather to share memories and support one another.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Harry’s memory to Clarkson Road Presbyterian Church, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation.
