Winter returns with a vengeance Tuesday afternoon
After enjoying a brief bit of spring weather on the weekend, the Kincardine area saw winter return with a vengeance Tuesday afternoon, bringing with it about a foot of snow.
Events, meetings and programs were cancelled Tuesday night due to the storm, and motorists saw their vehicles stranded in the middle of roadways and streets because of the excessive snowfall.
Wednesday morning, residents were busy digging out from under all that snow, and snow plow operators were not only clearing away a significant accumulation of white stuff, but trying to work around abandoned vehicles as well. Everyone was urged to be patient while snow plow operators took the extra time needed to clear all the roads and sidewalks properly.
Surprisingly, no roads were closed because of the snow. However, rural school bus routes were cancelled Wednesday morning, and the temperature was extremely cold.
The rest of the week is expected to continue cold with a mix of sun and clouds, and then warmer temperatures on the weekend.
