Fire destroys $300,000 home on Concession 12 in Municipality of Kincardine

Fire has destroyed a $300,000 home at 1426 Concession 12, Municipality of Kincardine.

At 3:15 a.m., Friday (March 11), Kincardine Fire and Emergency Services was dispatched to the scene where firefighters found a two-storey house on fire, said Kincardine fire chief Kent Padfield. The attached garage was fully engulfed in flames and smoke poured through the rest of the home.

Crews from Tiverton and Kincardine fire stations worked through the night to extinguish the fire. Mutual aid was requested from the Saugeen Shores Fire Department for tankers to supply water to the fire scene.

The home was destroyed, but there were no injuries, said Padfield. The loss is estimated at $300,000.

“Smoke alarms alerted the occupants who were able to get out safely," Padfield said. "Once again, working smoke alarms save lives.”

He said the first fire crews on the scene found heavy fire conditions. "The fire entered the roof space of the house and crews were unable to save the home.”

The fire department continues to investigate the cause of the blaze.
