The 30th Annual Bowl for Kids Sake has raised $30,000 for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kincardine and District.

Held March 5-6 at the newly-refurbished Bruce Bowling Lanes in Kincardine, the event fund-raising total was at $29,584.67 in the last hour of bowling when Royal LePage Kincardine Real Estate donated the remaining $415.33 to make it an even $30,000 for the 30th year, said organizer Kayla Piekarz.

Bowling began on the Saturday afternoon with the Little Brothers and Sisters bowling, along with agency staff, organizers and friends.

The Society of Energy Professionals was on hand to present a donation of $8,000 for the bowl-a-thon which continued until 9 p.m., and ran Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Piekarz said the individual highest pledge-earner was Lindsay Syrett with $2,905.15, while Vickie Cahill was second with $1,610, and Jody Slesser was third with $895. Syrett won $200 toward a Scandinavian Spa and a $25 gift card to Burke's Deli in Kincardine.

The Dixie Chicks concert tickets, which were the biggest and most-wanted prize, were won by Vicki Cahill.

The top team was the No Drama Llamas, raising $3,325.15, and winning a $150 gift card to the Bruce Steakhouse and a $25 gift card to Burke's Deli.

The best dressed team was the Alley Cats 1 and 2, winning a $50 gift card to Hawgs Breath, and a $25 gift card to Burke's Deli.

Meanwhile, Jared Adams, who pledged to run 100 days in support of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kincardine and District, has completed Run 100, raising $6,746.10 for the organization.

Adams said it began Nov. 27 with a crazy challenge that he dreamt up for himself.

"Over the past 100 days, Run4aReason has become something simply amazing," he says. "I ran through snow, rain, ice, wind, soreness, a hip injury, and even a fever for a couple days, but it was so worth every kilometre. Thanks so much to everyone who supported me on the runs and with donations. However, this wouldn't have been possible without the unprecedented support from my wife, Megan, and my family. I am so proud of being part of our great community. Together we have made Kincardine a better place to live!"
