SUSPICIOUS MAN ARRESTED
(WALKERTON, ON) – March 13, at 7:22 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of suspicious activity at Valve Train Industries located along Durham Street East in Walkerton.
Officers arrived to find that a quantity of metal had been taken from the business and the male suspect was located nearby. Thirty-one-year-old Justin SPITZIG of Huron Township has been charged with theft under $5,000 and trespass. He has been held in custody pending the results of a show cause hearing March 14.
INTOXICATED MAN ARRESTED
(WALKERTON, ON) – March 13, at 12:41 a.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol along McGivern Street in Walkerton, noticed a man on the sidewalk with open alcohol.
He ran from the officer, but was apprehended without incident following a short foot chase through Centennial Park. A 20-year-old Kincardine man was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place.
POLICE SEEKING WITNESSES TO MISCHIEF
(WALKERTON, ON) – March 12, at 9:10 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of mischief at the Mullen Small Animal Clinic located along Colborne Street in Walkerton.
Sometime during the late evening of March 11, or the early morning hours of March 12, a driveway marker was smashed and the business sign was tampered with. The cost of repairs is estimated to be less than $100.
IMPAIRED DRIVER LOSES CONTROL
(KINLOSS TWP, ON) – March 12, at 2:57 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a single-vehicle crash along Highway 9 in Kinloss Township.
Officers arrived to find that a maroon Dodge Caravan had left the highway and entered the north ditch. The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. Twenty-seven-year-old Matthew KUNTZ of Carrick Township has been charged with impaired driving and operate over-80 milligrams. He is scheduled to appear in court April 20, to answer to the charges. There were no injuries reported at the scene.
IMPAIRED DRIVER FACING DAY IN COURT
(WALKERTON, ON) – March 11, at 10:10 p.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol along Durham Street West in Walkerton, stopped a black Volkswagen Golf.
The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. Twenty-two-year-old Cameron O’ROURKE of Brockton has been charged with operate over-80 milligrams. He is scheduled to appear in court April 6, to answer to the charge.
POLICE LOOKING FOR STOLEN FARM EQUIPMENT
(HURON TWP, ON) – March 10, at 11:23 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a theft at a residence in the 1000 block of Concession 12 in Huron Township.
Sometime between 6 p.m. March 9, and 8 a.m. March 10, two deep orange corn heads from a Fox Harvester were taken. Each piece weighs approximately 1,500 pounds and the value of the stolen property is estimated to be $1,000.
DRIVER CHARGED IN COLLISION WITH PEDESTRIAN
(WALKERTON, ON) – March 8, at 3:31 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a crash involving a pedestrian on Yonge Street South in Walkerton.
Officers arrived with members of the Walkerton Fire Department and Bruce Paramedic Services to find that a blue Ford Fusion had struck a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The driver, an 85-year-old Brockton resident, was charged with fail to stop for red light. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
