Sympathy to family of Terry Paquette whose funeral was last Friday at St. Andrew’s United Church. His sense of humour, kindness and willingness to serve will be missed by many of us.
Sympathy, as well, to the family of Allan MacFarlane of Teeswater, Betty Ritchie of Lucknow, and Margaret Carruthers Mowbray. Margaret was an inspiration to all of us.
It was good to hear about the ordination of Kyle Dore in the Presbyterian Church of Canada. He and his wife have accepted a call to the church in Grimsby. Kyle’s parents are Alexis and Jim Dore of Wingham. Jim was raised in Purple Grove, so we have a special interest in Kyle.
Deanna and Morley Scott celebrated a special birthday with Bev and Frances Kingston of Chesley and Elizabeth Nicholson, Friday evening.
Mary Anne Kukoly attended the funeral of Anne Hemmingway in Brussels, Saturday, and then visited with Shirley Gilders in Clinton.
Mandy Zuk and boys, Janet and Michelle Rhody, travelled to Brampton last weekend to watch Oliver Larion playing hockey with the Brampton Flyers in the semi-final tournament. The Brampton team won, 2 –1. Oliver is also visiting this week with his grandparents.
Linda McInnes visited with her mother, Largaret McInnes, last week.
Dianne and Don Simpson visited with Ruthe and Hugh Duncan last week in Bloomingdale.
Jim and Fran Farrell visited in Kitchener, Saturday, with Farrell relatives and met their great-nephew William Ortt. William and his mother, Rachel, are visiting with her parents, Janice and George Miller.
Mary Anne Kukoly is hosting the Purple Grove card party, Friday at 7:30 pm.
By the way, the tundra swans are back, stopping in a cornfield down the 10th and the wind was from the east Sunday. What is that expression: "Wind from the east – not good for man nor beast?" Perhaps we shouldn't be putting our winter coats too far away yet! Have a good week, everyone!
