About a year-and-a-half after it was damaged by fire, Bruce Bowling Lanes in Kincardine is back in business.

Janelle Gurr, who manages the bowling alley for her mother, Carol, says the doors opened Jan. 1, and she welcomes bowlers to come and try it out.

The old hardwood could not be saved, she says, so the lanes are made of synthetic material.

"Our family was the first to bowl once the building was completely refurbished," says Gurr, adding that people have been dropping to check it out. "We hope to start up the regular bowling leagues in the fall.

The first community event was the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kincardine and District Bowl for Kids Sake, held March 5-6.

"Currently, we are open to the public just on the weekends," says Gurr. Those interested in booking a lane to go bowling, should call 519-396-7143.
