OPP constable Craig Campbell to be honoured with bridge dedication in Kincardine

(KINCARDINE, ON) – South Bruce OPP detachment commander inspector Dana Earley is pleased to announce a bridge dedication ceremony will be taking place to honour fallen OPP constable Craig Campbell. 
 

Members of the public and the media are invited to join past and present members of the OPP, local dignitaries and Campbell’s family to remember his life and legacy.
 

Aug. 3, 1985, Campbell, Badge No. 6477, and his partner were on patrol observing for a possible impaired driver who had evaded police. The suspect vehicle struck the cruiser broadside, killing Campbell and seriously injuring his partner.  
 

OPP commissioner Vince Hawkes will officially dedicate the Highway 21 bridge that crosses the Penetangore River in honour of Campbell. The bridge is located in the Municipality of Kincardine, north of Kincardine Avenue.

The dedication ceremony will be held Tuesday, May 24, at 1 p.m. at the Best Western Plus Governor's Inn, 791 Durham Street, Kincardine.
