(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A collision investigation has led to two criminal charges being laid against a 32-year-old Huron-Kinloss Township man.
Shortly after 9 a.m., March 25, Huron County OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Belgrave Road and Tower Line.
Police determined the accused was travelling southbound on Tower Line in a Ford Mustang when he failed to stop at the Stop sign at Belgrave Road. The Mustang entered the intersection and collided with an eastbound Mazda pick-up truck. Nobody was injured in the collision; but both vehicles sustained significant damage.
Upon speaking with the driver of the Ford Mustang, the investigating officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest for Driving a Motor Vehicle - Over-80 Milligrams of Alcohol, and was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests. He later provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, David HALDENBY, 32, of Huron-Kinloss has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over-80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Dangerous Driving. He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 18,at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also was served with an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
