Tiverton news

Has everyone had enough of this wet weather? So many pictures have been posted on Facebook of the riverbanks creeping into yards and parks. I hope everyone is using extreme caution when venturing near any bodies of water until they subside. Try to stay dry, folks!

April is here and I’m sure we are all looking forward to some nice weather and, of course, gardening. Tiverton Blooms will be looking for volunteers on planting day which has yet to be scheduled but the first week of June is looking good. Tiverton Blooms will again be having its “Garden of Distinction” awards this year so start planning and start thinking about who you can nominate.

Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church News

There’s still time to collect items around your house for the Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church Men's Group and Women's Mission Society (WMS) Rummage Sale, April 14-15. If you have any donations of clean clothing, linens, footwear or books, they may be brought to the church April 11-12. This has always been a very successful event with lots of wonderful finds. Don’t miss it.

The Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church will observe Mission Awareness Sunday, April 10, with Eileen Simpson as guest speaker telling of her mission trip to El Salvador. After the service, the WMS will serve lunch with the free-will donations used for the WMS's current mission project. All are welcome so come out and bring a friend.

Manor Musings

Tiverton Park Manor will be again hosting a Geri’s Fashions Day, April 23. This is a day to come and visit with family and friends while checking out the spring fashions. This event is open to the public so come out and enjoy.

Condolences to the family of Elizabeth “Betty” Eskrick of Tiverton who passed away March 30.

Also condolences to the family of Donald Millard Craig who passed away March 28. Obituaries can be found on the Davey Linklater Funeral Home webpage.

This week's birthday wishes go out to Caitlin Young, Halley Byle, Grace MacPherson, Helen Watkins and Eileen Morris.

Recently, a building at the corner of King and Church Streets in Tiverton was torn down but, apparently, it had some interesting history. Anyone with information about the building is welcome to E-mail me with what they know.
