The Bervie Women’s Institute met April 13 at the Bervie United Church for the regular meeting.
Following the usual openings, 11 members answered the roll call with a joke and payment of fees.
Upcoming events include the W.I. District Annual at the Southampton Museum May 26. The Bervie W.I. will also host at the Southampton Museum July 29.
The Federated Women`s Institutes of Ontario (FWIO) is hosting a caregiver support training workshop in Ripley June 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those interested in registering should contact Islay Eby at 519-396-8526.
Workers are required for the Heritage Fair’s women’s program at Paisley Aug. 20-21. Elsie Schular will provide a door prize for the Heritage Fair.
Betty Ann Thompson gave a report from the building committee on the W.I. hall. Islay Eby will donate pies and work at the Roots of Bruce April 15. Three blanket and teddy bear kits will be presented to the Bruce County EMS (Kincardine).
A delicious pot luck lunch was enjoyed at noon.
Sandra MacDonald was appointed secretary for the annual meeting and the various reports were given and passed. Bylaws for the branch were updated. Mildred Griffith installed the new slate of officers with Sylvia Hasbury as president, Joyce Roach as first-vice and Janice Hewitt as second-vice. Most other positions remained the same.
Islay Eby was presented with flowers in appreciation of her three years as president. Mildred Griffith had perfect attendance.
The annual plant, bake and yard sale will be on May 21 at the W.I. hall.
The next meeting will be May 4 at 7 p.m. at the Bervie W.I. hall with a speaker on osteoporosis.
