Caregiver Support Training workshops slated for Ripley and Tara in June

Two free Caregiver Support Training workshops will be held in Bruce County as part of the Rural Women’s Health Support Initiative pilot project.

This initiative, through the Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario's ROSE (Reaching Ontario Sharing Education) Program, has been made possible thanks to funding from Community Foundation Grey Bruce, a partnership with the Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health, and the support of local Women’s Institutes in Bruce County.

The focus for these workshops is on supporting women who are experiencing caregiver burn-out, and caregivers looking for resources.

If you are interested in becoming part of a volunteer peer support network and making a difference in the lives of people in your own community, you are invited to attend these workshops.

The workshops being hosted by the Bruce County District Women's Institute, will be held Wednesday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Ripley-Huron Community Centre social room, 17 Queen Street, Ripley; and Thursday, June 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Tara Royal Canadian Legion, 86 River Street, Tara.

The morning session offers an overview of caregiver resources and is open to the public, while the afternoon session focuses on health coaching skills and program delivery planning.

There is a limit of 25-30 participants per workshop. Pre-registration is required by May 26. Lunch will be provided for those attending both the morning and afternoon sessions. To register, call 905-662-2691 or E-mail: roseprogram@fwio.on.ca

The Grey County training workshops will be held May 4 in Owen Sound and May 5 in Elmwood.
