Kinetic Knights hold successful fund-raisers, off to worlds in St. Louis
The Kinetic Knights, FRC Team 781, of Kincardine have been busy for the past few weeks, fund-raising for their trip to the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) world championships in St. Louis, Missouri.
The team was part of the Alliance that won the Buckeye Regional in Cleveland, Ohio, in March, which meant the Kinetic Knights were eligible to compete at the worlds. They have been holding numerous events and activities to help fund this trip.
Besides a barbecue, demonstrations, presentations and displays, the team held a spaghetti dinner at the Kincardine Legion, April 17, feeding about 200 people and raising almost $2,000. Donations have also been coming in from various groups and organizations, including the Kincardine Rotary Club, the Erie Belle Oldstars, and an auction at the Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce community achievement awards gala.
The Kinetic Knights appreciate the wonderful support from the generous Kincardine community.
Tuesday night (April 26), the team leaves the Lake Huron Learning Centre for the 14-hour trip to St. Louis, Missouri, returning on Sunday, May 1.
