World Fiddle Day is celebrated in countries around the world on the Saturday closest to May 19 to maximize participation. It's one day when players of the “fiddle” family of instruments - violins, violas, cellos, double basses, hardangers, viola da gambas, etc,. can celebrate its beauty.
Morris organized the first World Fiddle Day last year at the Walker House, but this year she sought the participation of The Bruce Steakhouse and Kincardine BIA (Business Improvement Area - Lakeside Downtown Kincardine) to bring the event to the downtown and broaden public participation.
Downtown development manager Rick Clarke acknowledged that the event is a perfect fit with the Kincardine BIA’s plans this summer to enhance the shopping experience with more street entertainment throughout the summer.
The eastern end of Harbour Street will be closed to vehicular traffic for the two-hour outdoor performance.
